Queen, princess arrive in Bangalore

Governor hosts dinner for the visiting royal entourage

ROYAL VISITORS: Queen Beatrix and Princess Maxima of the Netherlands with Governor Rameshwar Thakur at a reception at Raj Bhavan in Bangalore on Friday.

BANGALORE: Governor Rameshwar Thakur on Friday hosted a dinner for the visiting royal entourage from the Netherlands that is on a two-day visit of the State. The royal entourage comprises Queen Beatrix, Prince of Orange Willem-Alexander and Princess Maxima, accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs M.J.M. Verhagen and the Netherlands Ambassador to India E.F.Ch. Niehe.

The Governor’s dinner followed the entourage’s visit to Kolar district.

In the morning, Queen Beatrix was received at the Bangalore Airport by Chief Secretary P.B. Mahishi. The Queen arrived here from Delhi by an Indian flight around 11 a.m. She immediately boarded a waiting Indian Air Force helicopter to Kolar.
