CHIRALA: Finance Minister, K. Rosaiah, has said that the government is considering to enhance bus fares only in express, luxury and deluxe services and the fares in passenger buses run under Palle Velugu would remain unchanged. Inaugurating air-conditioned bus service from Chirala to Hyderabad at RTC bus station here today, Mr. Rosaiah said that revision of bus fares became inevitable to help APSRTC meet the increased fuel prices. The Government is considering to increase bus fares without causing undue burden on passengers. The revision would affect only 25 per cent of passengers who travelled by Express buses and 75 per cent of passengers who travelled by passenger buses would not be affected, he said. Rs 100 crores releasedMr. Rosaiah said that the government released Rs. 100 crores to APSRTC four days ago to meet its subsidy burden which amounted to Rs. 180 crore. He commended the APSRTC for providing efficient services, for surviving competition and for posting profit this year. Superintendent of Police, V.V.Navinchand, Executive Director, APSRTC, U. Sudhakara Rao spoke. Regional Manager, Subba Rao welcomed the gathering.
