dated October 27, 1957: PEN conference

Prime Minister Nehru and Vice-President Radhakrishnan on October 26 in Baroda appealed to writers and scientists to spread the message of international friendship and goodwill among nations through their writings and work. The Prime Minister was inaugurating the fourth session of the PEN conference. Dr. Radhakrishnan addressed the session as its president. Mr. Nehru said in India, constitutionally, not only the writer but every one enjoyed individual freedom. If this freedom was not provided, the creativeness of mind was bound to suffer.
