Letters to the Editor
This refers to Tehelka’s claim that it has irrefutable evidence to prove that the killings of Muslims post-Godhra in Gujarat were not spontaneous but a genocide planned and executed by the top functionaries of the sangh parivar and State authorities. If the claim is found to be true, the government should ban the VHP, the RSS, the Bajrang Dal and the BJP. It should also initiate action against the high ranking police officials allegedly involved in the genocide. S. Mahaboob Basha, Adoni The Tehelka sting operation has exposed Mr. Modi. That the custodian of law allegedly sanctioned the violence during the riots is a shame on the largest democracy in the world. Earlier, his walking away from an interview and now the exposé confirm that the ghosts of the innocent people massacred in the post-Godhra riots do and will continue to haunt him. Sajid Abdul Rezak, Bangalore The alleged role of the sangh parivar should shame every Indian who believes in the Constitution and its secular ethos. The exposé has become another negative for the Gujarat Chief Minister. It may not be enough to put him behind bars but it will surely erode his credibility, which is crucial to his endeavour to become a national hero. Md Ziyaullah Khan, Pune Targeting Mr. Modi on the basis of the Tehelka exposé is unfair. The cases pertaining to the Gujarat killings are in courts and are being enquired into by commissions. Let us wait until their findings are made known. J.V. Reddy, Nellore
