Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Admission and Fee Regulatory Commission for Professional Institutes on Friday recommended cancellation of admission of 150 MBBS students to a private college at Indore for flouting norms. “The Commission, at its meeting here, has found that admissions given by the college are irregular and wrong,” Chairman P.L. Chaturvedi told PTI. Return feeThe Commission was not satisfied with the reply submitted by Index Medical College and Hospital Research Center and would write to the State government and the Medical Council of India on the issue. It would also direct college authorities to return the fee to students, he said. The college, which got permission for starting MBBS on September 29 this year, completed the admissions the very next day. According to the rules, admission to the course can be done only on the basis of DEMAT/PMT (Dental and Medical Admission Test and Pre-Medical Test). But it is alleged that these guidelines have been flouted. Admission was made on the basis of marks in Standard XII examinations, it was said. Following complaints from candidates who were denied admission, the Commission issued notice to the college and sought an explanation. Director of Medical Education V.K. Saini attended Friday’s meeting. — PTI
