Army Boys chalk up a win

NEW DELHI: A goal each by Anthony Jesu and Ansaleem Hemrom helped Army Boys Sports Company, Madras Engineering Group and Centre, Bangalore, to a 2-1 victory over Baba Gurmukh Singh Uttam Singh Senior Secondary School, Khadoor Sahib, in a super-league match of the 25th Nehru sub-junior hockey tournament at the Shivaji Stadium here on Friday.

Lovepreet Singh had put the Punjab team ahead with a penalty corner conversion in the 24th minute, but the Bangalore team fought back with two goals in the space of seven minutes towards the end of the second half.

In another match, Government Model Senior Secondary School, Chandigarh, beat NCC Directorate, Punjab, 3-1 after leading 2-0 at halftime. Bikramjeet Singh, Kanwaldeep Singh and Gurjant Singh scored for the winner. Prem Singh reduced the margin for the NCC team. Springdales Senior Secondary School, Fatehgarh, Amritsar, recorded a 4-0 win over S. S. High School, Khunti, Jharkhand. Jujhar Singh (2), Kawar Subeg Singh and Ramandeep Singh scored.
