Tribals promised pattas for forest land

JODEGHAT (ADILABAD DT.): Adilabad Collector Ahmad Nadeem on Friday assured the tribals that the pressing issue of land would be solved as soon as the relevant legislation gets underway.

He declared, ‘Mee bhoomi mee perulo vastundi (your land will be under your ownership)’ as per the provisions given under the impending legislation.

The Collector was addressing a public meeting organised at the interior Jodeghat village in Kerameri mandal in connection with the 67th martyrdom anniversary of Gond leader Komram Bheem. He said grant of pattas for forest lands under the cultivation of tribals would be a possibility in future.Government appointed a Forest Settlement Officer (FSO) to address the issue who will conduct grama sabhas to verify claims for forest lands as per the applicable rules and conditions. He urged the tribals to go in for horticulture as it had much scope for economic development.
