PAP water release postponed

POLLACHI: Parambikulam Aliyar Project (PAP) authorities on Friday postponed release of water from Tirumurthi reservoir near Udumalpet for the fourth wetting of over one lakh acres in Coimbatore and neighbouring Erode district following incessant rain in the region. According to sources, water had been released for three wettings under the fourth zone ayacuts since August 15. The release was postponed for three days initially. A senior official said a number of dams under the PAP were full to the brim. As the rain has been lashing the area farmers do not require water now for irrigation.
