Scribes protest outside jail

DEHRA DUN: Journalists blocked Hardwar Road and sat on a dharna outside Dehra Dun Jail on Friday demanding dismissal of Jail staff who had allegedly manhandled over a dozen scribes as they were standing near the gate to cover the shifting of Amarmani Tripathi, his wife Madhumati and two others to Hardwar Jail.

A special court had sentenced Amarmani, former Minister and now MLA, his wife and two others to life term on Wednesday in the Madhumita Shukla murder case. They had to be shifted to Hardwar as life convicts are housed in the prison there.
