KARUR: The State government has ensured that the youth have access to government jobs by removing the ban on recruitment. At the same time, for those who have missed out the Government has been extending unemployment dole to help them search and find a suitable job, Commercial Taxes Minister S.N.M. Ubayadullah said here on Friday.
The Minister was speaking at a function to mark the commencement of the fourth phase of unemployment dole distribution at Krishnarayapuram in Karur district.
The government knew that the exasperated youth needed job avenues, but the ban came in the way. Similarly, those youth who did not have the opportunity to land government jobs needed to be supported till they got a remunerative offer. That prompted the government to reach out to the youth of the State, he said, adding that the measures came as a balm to thousands of jobless youths.
Fourth phase on
Presiding over the function, Collector T.N. Venkatesh said that during the first phase 2,906 unemployed youths in Karur district were given Rs.17.30 lakh, while in the second phase Rs.60,44 lakh was disbursed to 5,284 youths. In the third phase, Rs.36.44 lakh was disbursed to 5,880 jobless youths. In the current fourth phase, 6.090 beneficiaries would be given a sum of Rs.37.58 lakh.
The Minister also launched a short-term skill enhancement training workshop for unemployed girls in tailoring stitching activities. A batch of 20 girls was undertaking the training in the first batch.
Karur MP K.C. Palanisamy, MLAs P. Kamaraj (Krishnarayapuram), R. Manikkam (Kulithalai), DMK district secretary Vasuki Murugesan and others participated in the programme.
