80 lakh additional jobs by 2015 in A.P.: CII study
HYDERABAD: About 80 lakh additional jobs at entry and middle levels will be created in various sectors of the industry in the State by 2015, according to a CII-ICRA study.
This was stated by B. Santhanam, Chairman Task Force on Skills, Employability and Affirmative Action, CII (Southern Region) at the inaugural of a two-day CII Conclave on ‘Building Skills: Building India’ here on Friday.
He said that one-fourth of the jobs would be created in construction, textiles and ITES sectors, while pointing out that the shortage of skilled workforce in the country could have a debilitating impact on overall economic growth. Ashok Soota, CMD, MindTree Consulting Limited, in his keynote address, said the lack of quality education and the absence of focus on vocational education were the root causes for talent shortage.
Labour Minister G. Vinod wanted the industry to include HR and training while undertaking any project.
Inaugurating the conclave, Major Industries Minister J. Geeta Reddy dwelt on the need for skill development to maintain competitiveness of the Indian economy.
