Kollapur MLA resigns

HYDERABAD: Kollapur MLA Jupally Krishna Rao on Friday handed over his resignation letter in the office of the Assembly Speaker K. R. Suresh Reddy and dared Telugu Desam MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy to follow suit and face a by-election against him. His action gave a new twist to the ongoing war of words between Dr. Janardhan Reddy and Rural Development Minister G. Chinna Reddy. The Kollapur MLA is an associate member of the CLP. Speaking to reporters, Mr. Krishna Rao said he would not take back his resignation. “How long can any one tolerate such irresponsible talk from an opposition member,” he said.

Meanwhile TDP leader, N. Janardhan Reddy on Friday ridiculed the Independent MLA, J. Krishna Rao’s resignation threat as a “cheap publicity stunt”. Reacting to Mr. Rao’s threat, he wondered why he was responding when he had challenged the Rural Development Minister, G. Chinna Reddy.

He likened Mr. Rao’s move to a character in a puppet show who had this habit of butting in when two major players settle scores.
