HYDERBAD: A.R. Rao shocked top-seeded A. Rambabu 9-6 in the 55 years & above singles quarterfinal of the Dr. V. Ramdas memorial Seniors tennis tournament at Asif Tennis Club here.

The results: quarterfinals: 45 years & above: R.V. Rama Raju bt K.S. Raju 9-6; Maruti Mohan bt T. Srinivas 9-3; M.V. Swamy bt M. Suresh 9-7; G. Krishnam Raju bt Anand Swaroop 9-4.

55 years & above: Rama Mohan bt K.S.R. Raju 9-4; M.S. Prakash bt D.S.N. Raju 9-1; A.R. Rao bt A. Rambabu 9-6; Radha bt P.V. Rao 9-2.

Nimeesh shines

Good spell by K. Nimeesh Reddy (seven for 31) helped Bhavan’s Junior College ‘B’ record a six-wicket win over Jubilee Hills Junior College in the Boost Cup under-17 cricket tournament here.

The scores: Jubilee Hills JC 209 (V. Anurag Reddy 88, M. Pradeep 64, K. Nimeesh Reddy seven for 31) lost to Bhavan’s Jr College ‘B’ 213 for four (P. Akshath Reddy 90, Tarun 38).

Bhavan’s Jr College ‘A’ 393 for six (R. Santosh Kumar 115, M. Krishna Sai 74, E. Srikanth 48, Abilash 34, Nikhil Rao three for 45) bt Chirec 78 (E. Srikanth six for 13).

Bharath moves up

Bharat Chandra defeated C.H. Prithvi 6-1 in the boys’ under-12 first round of the Twin C Tennis Academy mini-junior tennis tournament at Sanjeeviah Park here.
