Mentally challenged boy shot dead in Army camp

Srinagar: A mentally challenged boy was shot dead by security personnel after he allegedly tried to intrude into an Army camp in Baramulla district early on Friday.

The 16-year-old allegedly tried to sneak into the camp at Watlab in the Sopore area though the sentry fired warning shots, sources said. The sentry had to shoot the ‘intruder’ as he continued to climb the fencing around the camp. Investigations revealed that the deceased was a mentally challenged youth from Pulwama district, the sources said. A police party has been sent to his village to ascertain his identity. — PTI
