They are aged between 19 and 21 Proceeds used to fund lavish lifestyle Thiruvananthapuram: The police have arrested three youths in connection with a series of burglaries in the city. The suspects, Shibili, Ajeeb and Rakib, are aged between 19 and 21 and hail from Beemapally. City Police Commissioner Ravada Azad Chandrasekhar said as many 36 burglaries reported in the past year were solved with the arrest of the youths. He said the police were in the process of recovering the loot, which included gold ornaments estimated at nearly 1.75 kg. He said the youths targeted unoccupied houses at night. They often pawned the gold and used the proceeds to fund a lavish lifestyle, including frequent trips to Mumbai and Pune. He said the suspects had stolen Rs.9.3 lakh in cash alone. A team led by K.C. Sasikumar, Assistant Commissioner (Fort), and Gopakumar, Circle Inspector, arrested the suspects. Man missingSonil Lal, 20, of Thiruvallam went missing on Friday evening after he went to take bath in Thiruvallam lake along with his friends. Efforts were on by the Fire and Rescue Services personnel to trace him.
