CHENNAI: The Madras Cemeteries Board, managing the Christian cemeteries in the city, including Kilpauk, Kasimode and Quibble Island cemeteries, recently launched its website and is planning to offer online telecast of funerals to its patrons.
Friends of a dead person living abroad would be able to view the last rites on deferred telecast. The funeral will be recorded and made available online within an hour. Those who would like to telecast the funeral online would have to make a payment to the Board, following which they would be given a unique code to enter the website.
They can pass on the code to those who would like to view the funeral online. Up to 50 persons can view the funeral that will be kept online for a minimum of three days, said board treasurer S. Bosco Alangar Raj.
A few demonstration videos will be made available on the website in the first week of November. Those who are interested can then make the specified payment directly. Online payment will not be accepted, Mr. Alangar Raj said.
