BHUBANESWAR: Several eminent musicians in the State have shown their dissatisfaction over the lack of proper initiative by the State-owned Odissi Research Centre in promoting the Odissi music as a classical style on a par with the Hindustani and Carnatic music styles. Interacting with media persons on Friday during the briefing about the forthcoming National Music Conference on Sunday, musician Damodar Hota said his life-long efforts to establish the ‘Udra paddhatiya’ music (also known as Odissi music) received no support and appreciation of the government. . The forthcoming Tridhara national music conference being hosted by the institution ‘Swar Rang’ is the first attempt to put Odissi, Hindustani and Carnatic together on one platform to prove the classical aspect of Odissi music, he added.
