Baripada: The Similipal Biosphere Reserve, famous for the Project Tiger, will be opened to tourists from November 4, officials informed here today. In the first phase visitors coming to the pictureseque hills would be allowed entry through Kalika Prasad gate via Jashipur. However, the other entry point at Peethabata from Baripada town would be opened on November 15. Entry of tourists into the hills had been suspended since June 15 ahead of the rainy season as the roads inside reserve get damaged due to rain water. Repair works on the roads through Kalika Prasad entry point had been completed while work was still in progress on a temporary bridge over river Palpala. A maximum of 60 vehicles would be allowed into the hills, 40 through Kalika Prasad gate and 20 through Peethabata, they said. Meanwhile, for the first time tourists would have the opportunity to enjoy elephant ride and move around the hills atop three majestic elephants. - PTI
