‘SFI has been conducting its activities in an undemocratic manner’ USDF to organise campaign against criminal forces on campuses Kochi: The United Democratic Students Front (UDSF) has demanded a judicial probe into the incidents on the NSS Hindu College campus at Changanassery on Friday. At a press conference here on Saturday, Kerala Students Union president Hiby Eden, Kerala Students Congress (Mani) vice-president Vijay and Muslim Students Front State Secretary P.K. Firoze said they did not have any confidence in the investigation being conducted by the police into the incidents. The front opposed criminal and fundamentalist activities being carried out on campuses by the Students Federation of India (SFI), the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and other organisations. ‘Indifference’In fact, the SFI had been conducting its activities in an undemocratic manner. A tense situation had been prevailing on the Changanassery college campus for the past few days. But for the police indifference to the violence unleashed by the SFI, the incidents would not have taken place. The violence indulged in by the SFI would only strengthen the case of those who argued for banning politics on campuses, they said. The front would organise a campaign against criminal, fundamentalist and terrorist forces on campuses from October 29 to November 5. As part of the campaign, a gathering of students would be held at Changanassery. It would also collect funds to provide succour to the family members of the ASI who was killed on the campus, they added.
