Press Association poll results declared

NEW DELHI: Jaishankar Gupta and Rajiv Rangan Nag of Dainik Hindustan were on Saturday elected president and general secretary of the Press Association for 2007-09, respectively.

There was a tie between B. S. Arun of Deccan Herald and Iftikhar Gilani of Kashmir Times for the post of vice-president. The Association’s general body would take a decision on it later.

Among the other office-bearers elected to the Association – an organisation of correspondents accredited to the Government of India -- are Kalyan Barooah (Assam Tribune) as joint secretary and Sanjay Mishra of Dainik Jagran as treasurer. According to the Election Officer, J. Venkatesan of The Hindu, the other elected members of the executive committee are: C. K. Nayak, Deepak Dwivedi, Nigamanand Prusty, Onkar Singh and Utpal Borpujari.
