ALAPPUZHA: Communist Party of India (Marxist) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has said the Union Government should interfere and order an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the latest revelations on the Godhra carnage. Speaking at the valedictory of the 61st anniversary celebrations of the Punnapra-Vayalar revolt at Vayalar here on Saturday, Mr. Vijayan said all the probes conducted by the Narendra Modi Government into the carnage and related violence was nullified by the Tehelka revelations. Unless there were unbiased investigations into the issue, Mr. Modi and his partners in crime would escape, the State secretary, who called Mr. Modi a ‘thorough criminal,’ said. Charge against UDFOn the recent developments in the State, Mr. Vijayan said the United Democratic Front (UDF) was shielding ‘communal forces’ like the RSS as was evident from the press meet conducted by Leader of Opposition Oommen Chandy on the Changanassery incident in which a police officer was killed. “Mr. Chandy who strangely said the police was responsible for the death of a police official, did not even say once that the RSS was behind the incident, even when it is common knowledge that the RSS was behind the murder. The UDF has always protected communal forces like the RSS and the NDF to gain votes from the respective communities,” he said. Earlier, inaugurating the valedictory meeting, Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan said the land mafia was the latest avatar of imperialist forces that were trying to take over the State. Mr. Achuthanandan called upon the people to resist such forces.
