PATNA: The stage is set for the first show of strength by Lalu Prasad as an Opposition leader here on Sunday.
Special trains packed with thousands of his supporters have started arriving at Patna Junction. The Rashtriya Janata Dal has booked over 35 trains to bring them from different parts of Bihar and Jharkhand.
These people will be put up at huge camps pitched at a number of places. Song, dance and drama, with a rural flavour, will entertain them. Banners and hoardings greet the people in the city.
Mr. Prasad said: “I’ll show what I mean to the people and the people to me. This time I’m in the Opposition. They [rivals] always used to say that I enjoyed the advantage of being in power, but it is not difficult for me to mobilise people in Patna. They will see it tomorrow.”
The RJD leader warned that if Chief Minister Nitish Kumar did not take the chetawani (warning) rally seriously, he would agitate for his ouster.
Government authorities have acceded to the RJD’s request for providing additional forces at sensitive points.
Early on Saturday morning, one of the trucks carrying supporters from Siwan overturned, killing two persons and injuring four others.
