COIMBATORE: Murata Machinery of Japan has established in India a wholly owned subsidiary called Murata Machinery India Private Limited to enhance its market support, installation and follow-up service for textile machinery here. The Indian subsidiary, with centres in New Delhi, Mumbai and Coimbatore, will start operations in November. Its Senior Managing Director, Hibetoshi Kimura, told presspersons here on Saturday that the group was into textile machinery, machine tools, logistics and automation equipment. The Indian subsidiary would initially deal with textile machinery. The company had been in the Indian market since 1991 mainly through its technical service partner. The company sold machinery to the tune of $80 million in 2006-07 in India, and hoped to achieve $100 million during this fiscal. Some of the major products sold here were winding machines, air jet spinning machine and two-for-one twisters. Though it would first focus on the Indian market for its textile machinery products, it could look at expanding to other products and exporting to nearby countries later, he added.
