Satavahana is champion

VIJAYAWADA: Satavahana College emerged winner in the Acharya Nagarjuna University inter-collegiate kabaddi tournament for men, winning all the league encounters here on Saturday.

In the final league match, Satavahana defeated SRR &CVR College 39-22. Andhra Pradesh Co-operative Bank (APCOB) chairman Vasantha Nagaeswara Rao gave away the prizes.

The results (league): Satavahana College (Vij) bt SRR & CVR College (Vij) 39-22; BAS College (Bapatla) bt ANR College (Gudivada) 40-18; SRR & CVR College bt ANR College (Gudivada) 50-23; Satavahana College (Vij) bt BAS College (Bapatla) 43-9; SRR & CVR College (Vij) bt BAS College (Bapatla) 38-26; Satavahana College bt ANR College (Gudivada) 58-29.

Prakasam triumphs

Prakasam defeated Krishna by 23 runs in the final of the Tata Indicom-Eenadu cricket tournament at the IGMC Stadium here on Saturday.

Prakasam’s K. Rajesh, who scalped four for six, was declared Man of the Match. Joint Collector S. Suresh Kumar gave away the prizes.

The scores: Prakasam 126 for six in 20 overs bt Krishna 103 all out in 19.4 overs (K Rajesh four for 6).

Siva to lead

Narasaraopet’s J. Siva Koteswara Rao will lead the Andhra under-15 cricket team in the Polly Umrigar Trophy to be held at Thiruvananthapuram from November 1 to 20.

The 33rd AP State Group II women’s sports festival will be held from October 28 to 31 at the IGMC Stadium (Vijayawada) and NTR Stadium (Gudivada).

Athletics and handball will be held at IGMC Stadium, while kabaddi and volleyball will be played at the NTR Stadium.

Easy for PVP SIT

City’s PVP Siddhartha Institute of Technology scored a 132-run victory over AG & SG College (Vuyyuru) in the Krishna District Cricket Association’s college league tournament at Siddhartha Medical College grounds here.

The scores: PVP SIT 186 in 36 overs (V. Harish 45 n.o., Tejesh 38, Ajay three for 48, Nagarjuna four for 24) bt AG & SG College 55 in 18.3 overs.
