Harjinder nets winner

NEW DELHI: Harjinder Singh scored the winner as Government HS, Harnamdaspura, Jalandhar, beat Baba Gurmukh Singh Uttam Singh SSS, Khadoor Sahib, 1-0 in a super-league match of the 25th Nehru sub-junior hockey tournament at the Shivaji Stadium here on Saturday.

In another match, a goal each by Harvinder Singh and Ajay Singh helped Government Model SSS, Ladowali, Jalandhar, to a 2-1 win over GRM SSS, Nangloi. Sumit scored for the Delhi team.

The match between Birsa Munda Vidyapith, Rourkela, and Government Model SSS, Chandigarh, ended goalless.

Final deferred

The final of the Maharaj Prithi Singh Cup six-goal polo tournament at the Army Equestrian Centre ground in Delhi Cantonment has been deferred to Monday.

Cavalry-Aspen Crew was to take on Army Service Corps (ASC) in the title clash, but due to some unavoidable circumstances, the match could not be conducted on Saturday.

ITC enters last four

Half-centuries by Pradeep Chawla (73 not out) and Abhishek Kaushik (63) helped ITC beat Sonnet Club by 27 runs to make it to the semifinals of the BDM Cup cricket tournament at the Nehru Stadium here.

The scores: ITC 265 for six in 40 overs (Pradeep Chawla 73 n.o., Abhishek Kaushik 63, Rahat Elahi 43 n.o.) bt Sonnet Club 238 in 38.3 overs (Rahul Diwan 63, Karan Rai 51, Praveen Gupta four for 39).
