Rs 4.5 lakhs taken away at knifepoint

Correspondent

CUTTACK: Even after nearly 24 hours, the Cuttack police on Saturday are still clueless about the Rs 4.5-lakh loot case that took place in the city late on Friday evening. Six unidentified persons had attacked two Kolkata-based traders and decamped with two cash bags from them at knifepoint.

According to reports, two garment traders were going to the railway station in an auto rickshaw to board a Kolkata-bound train. "Around 11 pm at least six unidentified persons coming on three motorcycles intercepted the auto rickshaw and tried to snatch the cash bags. But when the businessmen protested they were attacked by the robbers with sharp weapons and decamped with two cash bags after injuring them," said DSP S K Mohanty.

Police said the traders had received multiple injuries in their hands and they were immediately shifted to SCB hospital for treatment.
