Surgery course

BANGALORE: The third Bangalore Shoulder Course started here on Saturday with 150 participants from across the country. The aim of the course is to promote super-specialisation in shoulder surgery, a relatively new and rapidly growing field in orthopaedics, said Mahesh Reddy, organising secretary, Department of Orthopaedics, Manipal Hospital.

“There are very few centres offering shoulder surgery in the country. But with the number of shoulder injuries rising because of accidents, increased sporting activities and recurrent dislocation-related injuries, there is a need to train surgeons in this field,” Dr. Reddy said. — Staff Reporter
