PDP concern over rights violations

Shujaat Bukhari

SRINAGAR: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti has expressed concern over the spate of human rights violations that calls for a strong political will to rid the State of the highly disturbing scenario.

Talking to people in Bijbehara, where she was on an extensive visit on Saturday, Ms. Mufti said the recent cold blooded murder of a teacher followed by the reports of army killing a mentally challenged person Akil Mir depicted a dismal picture of the human rights situation in the State.

The PDP leader alleged that exactly a week after killing a teacher the Army had repeated the blood shed at Watlab in Sopore area of Baramulla district.
