‘Stop distribution of Periyar’s book’

Lucknow: Criticising the Mayawati government for its inability to ban Periyar’s book, “True Ramayan,” BJP president Rajnath Singh on Saturday asked the party workers “to go to any extent to stop” its distribution.

“The book should be banned and the BJP workers should ensure not even a single copy of the book is sold in the State. You can go to any extent to ensure this,” Mr. Singh said, while addressing the working committee meeting of the party’s State unit.

He said no body had the right to hurt the sentiments of others. Saying that he could not muster the courage to read such a “derogatory” book, Mr. Singh alleged that it was being distributed among the BSP workers. — PTI
