ADELAIDE: Sri Lanka opener Sanath Jayasuriya hit 84 runs from 85 balls in the first session and went on to score 154 on Saturday on the first day of a three-day tour match against the Cricket Australia Chairman’s XI. Fellow veteran opener Marvan Atapattu added 56 runs at the Adelaide Oval to help Sri Lanka notch up 335 for four at stumps on the first day. “I made my first Test century here against Australia, so I’m quite happy to get another hundred here,” said 38-year-old Jayasuriya, who has indicated this will be his last tour of Australia. “It’s always good to get a hundred before a Test series because you get a lot of confidence from that.” The biggest concern for the visitors was an injury to star batsman Kumar Sangakkara, who called for strapping to his left hamstring and retired hurt on one run. But team officials later said Sangakkara was expected to be fit for the Brisbane Test. The scores: Sri Lanka 335 for four in 86.1 overs (Sanath Jayasuriya 154, Marvan Atapattu 56, M. Vandoort 55, T. Samawareera (batting) 53; Aaron Heal three for 50) vs. Australian Chairman’s XI. — Agencies
