NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Saturday launched another round of Pulse Polio Campaign in Delhi by administering anti-polio drops to a number of children at her 3 Motilal Nehru Marg residence. The Pulse Polio Immunisation Programme will be conducted across the Capital on Sunday. Ms. Dikshit said the Government would ensure that the National Capital Territory remained polio-free. “For making a strong nation, it is essential that the children are strong and this would only be possible with the success of Pulse Polio Programme,” she said, adding, “Delhi has shown better results in this field.” Being the pioneer in the Pulse Polio Programme, the Chief Minister said Delhi is regarded as a role model and it would continue to strive hard to completely eliminate polio. Delhi Health Minister Yoganand Shastri also administered polio drops to a few children. He conveyed his gratitude to the Rotary Club and other NGOs for making the Pulse Polio Campaign a success. 7,500 booths set upThe Minister said 7,500 polio booths would be set up on Sunday to administer the polio vaccine to lakhs of children up to five years of age. Nearly 30,000 employees of the Health Department would be deployed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Besides, stalls would be set up at railway stations, Inter-State Bus Terminals, public places like Appu Ghar, major temples, Metro stations, Millennium Park, Delhi Zoo and McDonald’s outlets.
