Kochi: Communist Marxist Party (CMP) leader M.V. Raghavan has criticised Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan for his statements on the violence on the Changanassery NSS Hindu College campus that led to the death of an Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police. Mr. Raghavan told mediapersons here on Saturday that Mr. Balakrishnan should not have said that those accused in the murder of the ASI were supporters of the ABVP or RSS or BJP before the police had conducted a preliminary inquiry into the case. He said one could understand the statement of CPI(M) holding the Sangh Parivar responsible for the murder. However, when Mr. Balakrishnan made such a remark in his capacity as the Home Minister, he should have taken due care. He alleged that the Minister was hinting at the possible direction of the investigation and that the investigation ordered by the government was irrelevant. He said the LDF was trying to annihilate their political rivals by ‘goondaism.’ He said politics should be banished from campuses.
