Work on bridge to resume soon

Kochi: With the government sanctioning Rs.6 crore for the construction of a bridge parallel to the Venduruthy bridge, the stalled work is set to restart by November.

This was stated by PWD officials at a meeting of the District Development Council held here on Saturday. The building materials will be stored on land near the Cochin Shipyard.

At the meeting, the District Collector directed the officials concerned to speed up repair works on the national highways and other roads that pass through Kochi.

The development of Kalady Junction and the innumerable humps on roads in the area were highlighted by Jose Thettayil, MLA.

Some MLAs pointed out that many areas in Vypeen and Mattancherry were yet to get drinking water, despite the commissioning of the HUDCO-aided water supply scheme.
