ECIL pays record dividend to DAE
S. Nagesh Kumar
HYDERABAD: The public sector Electronics Corporation of India (ECIL) has paid Rs. 31 crore as dividend for the 2006-07, the highest ever in its 40-year history, to the Department of Atomic Energy. A cheque for this amount was handed over by CMD of ECIL, K. S. Rajasekhara Rao, to Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Anil Kakodkar at Mumbai.
This was possible as the Corporation achieved a record turnover of Rs. 1,005 crore and a profit after tax of Rs. 128 crore. In-house R & D capabilities which facilitated the ECIL in developing critical sub- systems indigenously for defence and nuclear programmes, was a key factor that contributed to this.
