Film fete from Nov. 28

BHUBANESWAR: The third edition of the Bhubaneswar Film Festival hosted by the Film Society of Bhubaneswar (FSB) will be held in the city from November 28 to December 2.

The organisers informed The Hindu that the festival, scheduled to be mounted at the Jayadev Bhawan, will spread over five days and will feature 20 films.

The focus this year is on African and Asian cinema, they revealed.

“Although films made in both the continents do not reach the wider audience for marketing constraints, cinema of these regions are quite powerful and passionate in its expression.

The package will showcase some of such brilliant films that deal with social issues and cultural conventions,” the organisers said.

The retrospective segment of the festival will showcase some of the masterpieces of world cinema.

Besides, there will be a number of sessions devoted to discussion on the filmmakers of those classics.

Screenings will commence daily at 10 in the morning and will continue till 10 in the evening with breaks for the deliberations and refreshment. An exhibition of journals on cinema will also be put up at the venue, it was learnt.
