Moment to rejoice

Staff Reporter

PERINTHALMANNA: One of the worst things that can happen to a married couple is being childless.

The 130-odd families who attended a gathering here on Sunday had gone through this trauma. They had learned how blessed they were to have a child after a prolonged wait.

The get-together of 130 children born through In Vitro Fertilization (assisted reproduction) and their parents turned out to be special occasion. The event was organised by a private IVF centre celebrating its 10th anniversary. Sharing their joy was Malayalam film director Fazil, who drove down from Alappuzha to meet the gathering. Mr. Fazil told the gathering that the most beautiful thing in life “is the feeling that we are wanted and there is someone waiting for us.”

Parents had come to attend the meet from different parts of the State and those who could not make it, sent their best wishes.

There were messages from couples in countries like Male, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. The children who gathered at the get-together were aged between four months and nine years.

The most engaging part of the day-long gathering was the entertainment session staged by the children. They sang, danced, mimicked and paraded in fancy dress, evoking laughter and spreading cheer among the parents.
