KODIVERI: Kodiveri Dam, across River Bhavani, has seen a few improvements in infrastructure.
With Rs. 12.5 lakh each from E.V.K.S. Elangovan, Member of Parliament from Gobichettipalayam, and Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation, a park, water tanks, a children’s park, railings for a safe bath near the dam, restrooms and other infrastructure have been provided.
The refurbished Dam was inaugurated on Friday by Mr. Elangovan, who is also the Union Minister of State for Textiles, in the presence of State Minister for Handlooms and Textiles N.K.K.P. Raja, Collector T. Udhayachandran and MLAs. The work to build a jetty at Rs. 5 lakh would be taken up once the water in the river recedes, Mr. Elangovan said.
He asked the people visiting the dam to help maintain in its upkeep.
"Financing and improving is not important. Its upkeep is more important," he said. Apart from the Rs. 25 lakh assistance, Rs. 9.95 lakh has been spent on building a bridge across the Thadappalli canal.
The funding for the bridge has come from the Member of Legislative Assembly for Bhavanisagar constituency, O. Subramaniam.
