VIZIANAGARAM: All the 322 contract ANMs, who have been asking the administration to conduct counselling for the last fortnight, have decided to launch relay fast from November 5. At the ‘sangibhava sabha’ held at Harsha mini theatre here on Sunday, all trade unions, including IFTU, Staff and Workers Federation, United Teachers’ Federation and CPI(M) extended support to the agitating ANMs.
Post card campaign
CPI (M) secretary M. Krishna Murty said that the ANMs would launch postcard campaign during this week. As part of the campaign, they would post letters to Chief Minister, Health Minister, Commissioner (family welfare), MLAs, ZPTCs and MPTCs.
IFTU general secretary P. Prasad, UTF general secretary D. Ramu and others spoke.
It may be recalled that the administration had asked them to appear for counselling on October 13.
When they reached the venue on that day they were informed that it was cancelled following orders from Commissioner (family welfare).
The agitating ANMs sought support from all sections to their agitation.
