PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday urged the government to take measures on a war-footing to provide relief to the people affected by rain. In a statement here, BJP unit president M.Visweswaran said roads in Tirukkanur, Mannadipet, Bahour and Sedarapet and several suburban areas were damaged. As labourers in different areas were unable to move out of their residences seeking job, he urged the government to provide them a relief package consisting of 25 kg rice and Rs.1000 for each affected family.
