PUDUKOTTAI: The need to float ‘nature clubs’ in educational institutions was underlined by speakers at a seminar on ‘Environment’ here.
The meet was organised jointly by the Department of History of the Government Arts College for Women and a non-governmental organisation, CHRD and Trust, the Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology, Chennai, and the National Council of Science and Technology, New Delhi.
M. Ravichandran, Professor and Head, Department of Environmental Management, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchi, underlined the role of the student community in ensuring environmental protection. Steps should be taken to create awareness among the masses on periodical cleaning of over-head tanks and drinking boiled water. Students should be sensitised to the principles of nature clubs.
An exhibition on ‘Energy recycling’ was held.
