Staff Reporter

ADILABAD: A signature campaign will be undertaken on Monday in Adilabad town under the banner of the revived Adilabad tax payers’ forum to bring about an awareness among the people on the proposed hike in rate of property tax of commercial premises.

A meeting of ‘aggrieved’ persons on Sunday also decided to submit a memorandum to Collector Ahmad Nadeem to review the increase in tax rate failing, for which agitations like relay hunger strike and bandhs will be called for.

Forum president Bajranglal Agarwal and member M. Ramana Reddy said the hike in certain cases was by 500 per cent.

There is also no consistency in the proposal for increase in various localities.

The forum also distributed a pro forma for filing review petitions with the municipality.
