BHUBANESWAR: Campaign Against Child Labour (CACL), a nationwide network against child labour, will be holding national convention for children here from November 20 to 22. Around 1000 children delegates – a major chunk of whom will be child labourers – along with 500 adults including escorts, facilitators, volunteers and NGO representatives would take part in the convention. “The child labourers would formulate strategies for themselves to do away with the demeaning profession. Children need to be more vocal and expressive about anchoring their lives into more meaningful existence against violence and increasing abuse of children,” CACL National Convenor Ranjan Mohanty said here on Sunday. Children would undertake a peach torch rally from Dhauli and to the venue and the torch would stay lighted during the event, he said. “They will develop a clear perspective of their own regarding their demands from the stakeholders. It will help them to think possible ways of raising awareness about issues that concern children within their community and tell other children about their rights,” he said.
