Sugar units in Belgaum told to crush entire crop

Belgaum: Belgaum Deputy Commissioner M.S. Shivalingmurthy has directed managements of all cooperative sugar factories in the district to crush the entire sugarcane crop this season. With the commencement of crushing season for the year 2007-08 from this month, the Deputy Commissioner has directed the managements to ensure that no grower suffered losses on account of any factory not lifting the crop for crushing. According to a release, he has also directed the managements to immediately clear the bills for the year 2006-07 due to sugarcane growers. However, the managements have not yet announced the sugarcane price for this season.
