HYDERABAD: Three members of a family died when the car in which they were travelling rammed into a parked lorry from behind near Shamshabad here on Saturday.
The victims, Y.V. Sharma, 54, his wife Y. Lalita, 52 and their son Surindranath, 28, hailed from Proddutur in Kadapa district.
Sharma’s family was coming to the city to look for marriage alliance for his daughter Y. Indira, a software professional working with Wipro, when the accident occurred around 5.30 a.m. at Shatamrai village of Shamshabad on city outskirts.
Driver of the Hyundai Accent car, Shikhamani, however escaped though he sustained injuries in the ghastly accident. Sharma was working as Life Insurance Corporation Development Officer. His wife was an employee of co-operative department. Their son also software professional had recently returned from America. They started from Proddutur on Friday night and reached Shatamrai village, near Shamshabad, in the morning. “The driver apparently dozed off having driven all through the night, lost control and crashed into the parked lorry,” Shamshabad police station Inspector Y. Ramachandrudu said. .
