Bangalore: Governor Rameshwar Thakur on Sunday held the first executive committee meeting, along with the three advisers, and appointed B.V. Acharya as Advocate-General with immediate effect. Udaya Holla had quit as Advocate-General following imposing of President’s rule in the State. Briefing presspersons after the meeting, Mr. Thakur said a decision had also been taken to hold ‘Janata Darshans’ in all taluk and district centres. They would be held by tahsildars and deputy commissioners and reports on them would be sent to the Governor on a weekly basis. Instructions on this had already been sent, he said. Meet to be convenedThe meeting, which reviewed development programmes and the law and order situation in Karnataka, also resolved to convene a meeting of secretaries of various departments on Monday at the Secretariat. The executive committee, he said, would meet regularly to review programmes. Asked what decision he would take on the political situation in the State, the Governor only said “no political discussion” had taken place at the committee meeting. The meeting was attended by the three newly appointed advisers – P.P. Prabhu, S. Krishna Kumar and P.K. Tharakan – and Chief Secretary P.B. Mahishi.
