Staff Reporter

MADURAI: AIMMK founder-president, N. Sethuraman, said former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has been invited to lay the foundation stone for a cultural centre housing a100 feet tall statue of the departed leader at Poovanthi, a village adjacent to the Madurai-Sivaganga highway.

Addressing a press meet here on Saturday, he thanked Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi for agreeing to visit Pasumpon to participate in the centenary celebrations organised by another outfit.

He urged the State and Central governments to name the Madurai airport after Muthuramalinga Thevar, release a coin engraved with his picture and confer on him the Bharat Ratna, posthumously.
