Semifinalists spotted

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Host LNCPE (Kariyavattom), Payyannur College (Payyannur), MA College (Kothamangalam) and Sree Kerala Varma College (Thrissur) entered the semifinals of the first SAI LNCPE all-Kerala inter-collegiate football tournament at the LNCPE ground here on Sunday.

LNCPE crushed Mar Thoma College (Thiruvalla) 7-0 as Midhun (32nd, 43rd & 46th) and Moideen (52nd, 63rd & 82nd) scored hat-tricks. Dawa Chokppa scored the opening goal for the winner in the 20th minute.

Sree Kerala Varma defeated MG College (Thiruvananthapuram) 2-0 to enter the semifinals. V.V. Sarjeeth (4th) and P.M. Masood (12th) scored for SKVC.

MA College (Kothamangalam) defeated NSS College Manjeri 7-6 in sudden death after both teams were locked 1-1 at the end of regular time. Ratish put MA College ahead in the ninth minute while Hyder Ali restored parity for NSS College in the 11th minute.

Payannur College edged out Christ College (Irinjalakuda) 6-5 in sudden death after both teams played out a goalless draw in regular time. — Principal Correspondent
