Khaja Mian HSS bags SMB Trophy

Dindigul: Khaja Mian Higher Secondary School (Tiruchi) bagged the SMB Trophy with a 5-0 win over defending champion YMCA (Chennai) in a semifinal round-robin league match of the fifth annual State-level inter-school football tournament, jointly organised by SMBM HSS and DDFA, here on Sunday.

Khaja Mian emerged winner with seven points (two wins and a draw), while YMCA finished runner-up with four (one win, one draw and one loss). NLC Boys HSS (Neyveli) was third with three points (one win and two losses) and American College HSS (Madurai) was fourth with two (two draws and a loss).

The results (league): Khaja Mian HSS 5 (Santhosh 2, Satheesh Kumar 2, Saravana Kumar) bt YMCA HSS 0; Khaja Mian drew with American College 0; Khaja Mian 2 (Satheesh Kumar, Saravana Kumar) bt NLC Boys School 0.

YMCA 3 (Michel 2, Mohan) bt NLC Boys 0; YMCA 2 (Kiruba 2) drew with American College 2 (Shajahan, Meyyapan).

NLC Boys 2 (Karthik, Sanjay Kumar) bt American College HSS 0.

Easy for Sachin CC

Sachin Cricket Club registered a six-wicket win over Nike Cricket Club (Oddanchatram) in the Canara Bank-DDCA first division league here on Sunday.

The scores:

First division: Nike CC 54 in 16.2 overs (K. Siva four for seven) lost to Sachin CC 55 for four in 15.1 overs.

Mansur Youngsters CC 132 in 32.5 overs lost to Majestic CC 136 for three in 17.5 overs (Anbu Pandian 42).

Second division: Samiyarthottam CC 144 for seven in 21 overs (M. Abudhahir 68, P. Nagaraj four for 40) bt Eriodu CC 124 in 20.5 overs.

Third division: Mansur CC 120 for eight in 20 overs bt Yuvaraj CC 106 in 18.4 overs (N. Muthukumar five for 27).

Rahul meets Rajendra

At Madurai, Rahul of H.D.I. School and Rajendra Prasad of Madura College HSS entered the boys’ under-18 final of the district-level Golden Jubilee carrom tournament, organised by MDCA, defeating Deepan of MNUJ HSS 7-11, 18-2, 18-5 and Premkumar of HDI School 15-7, 16-10 respectively.

Four-wkt. win for Olympus

Olympus Cricket Club beat P.S. Oliva Cricket Club by four wickets in a third division match of the Canara Bank-MDCA league at Madurai.

The scores: PS Oliva CC 146 for five in 30 overs (Jeyakumar 40) lost to Olympus CC 147 for six in 25.5 overs (Murugan 40).
