Another milestone: The Chandrayangutta flyover, which is ready and is expected to be opened by the Chief Minister shortly. HYDERABAD: The GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer, C.V.S.K. Sarma, has directed his staff to complete pending works of all the flyovers under construction so that they are opened for public use within the next six months. On reviewing the traffic movement at the merger point of the new Greenlands flyover and the Begumpet road overbridge on Saturday night, Dr. Sarma expressed his satisfaction over the arrangement and urged officials to finish the balance works of slabs crossing the railway track and landing at the HPS, Begumpet, by February end. Priority taskSimilarly, the main flyover of Punjagutta from the Chief Minister’s House till Nagarjuna Circle should be completed on a priority basis along with the required road marking by the same time. The Commissioner also visited the other flyover which is ready for inauguration at Chandrayanagutta. The service road here is being given finishing touches and the works are proceeding at a frantic pace so that the facility can be opened by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy in the next few days. At the Nalgonda crossroads flyover, he inspected the ongoing gardening works in the trumpet shape. The Commissioner was, however, very unhappy with the Sithaphalmandi flyover work’s progress. The engineering staff was asked to speed up the job so that the flyover gets ready at least by March next year. He also had a look at the ongoing carpeting of bitumen on the Begumpet ROB with the micro-surfacing method which is more effective than the traditional carpeting technique and also because the layer is thin. Housing coloniesOn Sunday, he also went round the areas of Turkayamjal, Abdullapurmet, Annojiguda, Chilkur and Khaittalapur where housing colonies under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission are being taken up for the poor of the capital region. Senior officials accompanied him.
