Soaps are order of the day out of the box



high drama: A scene from the serial ‘Bommarillu’

If there is one common thread that binds the different general entertainment channels, it is family drama. Take any channel schedule and one finds it peppered with enough doses of drama involving a host of characters from a family and how they overcome the twists of the fate.

Some of the biggest draws on Telugu channels have been tearjerkers that meanders the corridors of sentiments, test the strength of familial ties, throw in unexpected circumstances and have oodles of emotional situations.

The latest on the small screen that promise a long run is ‘Bommarillu’.

The daily serial on Gemini comes with a good cast and narrates the story of a family that goes astray following a small misunderstanding. How the joys of a big joint family goes through a lean patch is the plot on which director B. Ashok Rao has built the serial.

The cast of ‘Bommarillu’ include Vijay Yadav, Hari, Vinod Bala, Lavanya Lahari, Prabhakar Rao, Harika, Sheela Singh and Lalitha.

“The serial is already picking up good ratings and we expect it to continue to entertain the viewers,” says the lead actor Vijay Yadav.

New serial on Maa

Maa TV now has a new serial ‘Narada Leelalu’ produced by R. K. Telefilms. Telecast at 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, the mythological fare is described as the first ever effort to bring live stories of Narada on the small screen.

The serial comes is directed by noted film maker K. Raghavendra Rao

Also, the channel has started telecast of Ramanand Sagar’s epic serial ‘Ramayana’ in Telugu on Sundays at 9 a.m.

The Hindi version had the introduction given by the veteran actor Ashok Kumar and the same is being done in Telugu by Tanikella Bharani.
